For our trick-or-treat extravaganza, we headed over to the Deemer house. We really lucked out with the weather, dry and even warm for October. Both kids did very well, if though we did have to carry them most of the way home.
Along with Miss Carrie, I took the kids - dressed as Cinderella and Buzz Lightyear - to see Disney on Ice. The show was very well done and I thoroughly was entertained. The kids did pretty well - Parker especially. After about 5 minutes Kaitlyn was ready to go home. However with some judicious snacks and bribery, they both managed to be well-behaved through the whole show.
For the whole month of October I've been participating in a LayOut A Day challenge (or LOAD). My goal was to get my Alaska album finished - here is my 29th layout. I've been doing really well, but I don't think I'll hit my goal because my Alaska album is going to be WAY more than 31 pages.
Kaitlyn's Cinderella costume arrived in today's mail and she had to try on all the pieces - shoes, gloves, headband - however, I think she may have liked the purse the best.
After much deliberation, Parker has decided to be Luigi for Halloween and his costume arrived today. Les was a little concerned that Parker didn't want to be Mario, so I ordered Les a Mario costume to wear on Halloween.
In honor of her pending birthday, Les converted Kaitlyn's crib to a toddler-sized daybed. Her afternoon nap was pretty successful - she only fell out once and we'd put a bunch of blankets down just in case, so no injuries.
Today is the fall festival at day care, so we sent the kids to school in their Halloween shirts. Parker was having nothing to do with getting his picture taken. Kaitlyn was a little angel - this picture shows her lovely scraped chin that she got falling on her face a school earlier in the week.
With Kaitlyn's pending birthday, she will soon be moving out of Miss Tina's class at daycare. Here's a picture of her cubbby before she heads off to preschool.
Grandma, Mike and Andy met us at BJ Willy's for a belated birthday dinner. Afterwards, we walked over to Cold Stone for some ice cream. Both of the kids wanted to sit with Uncle Andy and wanted nothing to do with mom or dad.
Kaitlyn has once again provided guest photography today - this was the only photo that actually had a head in the shot. All the others were mostly feet and midsections.
Parker has been less than enthusiastic about baths lately, so to change things up a bit I let the kids use my big soaking tub for their bath. I still had to coax Parker in, but once they were both in they had a splashing good time.
To celebrate my birthday, I volunteered my time to the Girl Scouts ICAN conference at Camp Mountaindale. I was serenaded by my sister Girl Scouts for my birthday and even got chocolate cake.
Les had the kids to himself for the evening and suprised me by taking them both to the pre-season Blazer game.
Miss Carrie came over for to watch Supernatural (Les was having his Friday poker game) and brought me some lovely birthday flowers from her mother's garden.
Les, being the best husband, sent birthday flowers to my office a few days early. Because he knows that the best part of getting flowers is showing them off to your co-workers.
Parker's current favorite food (for some time now) is peanut butter and honey sandwiches. He's become quite proficient at making them himself - however, sometimes the bread tie trips him up.
Kaitlyn helped cook up some rice to go with dinner. However, the highlight of the evening is when Parker sat and ate an entire serving of green beans without a fight. Fingers crossed that becomes a trend.
(Okay, so I know it's a super blurry iPhone photo, but . . .) The kids have been having so much fun playing on the treadmill. Parker especially likes running as fast as possible.
Les' new treadmill arrived today. Les will be training to be part of a relay team running a 36 hour race in Florida in January. As a member of the team, he received a free treadmill in exchange for agreeing to be filmed training and running the race. Go Team Les!
Okay, my turn for a hair cut. I ran out to Stacy's during work and the just went home early. We went a bit lighter and are officially growing out my bangs.
The kids' school pictures came back today. I can't believe that we got such a great shot of the two of them together. All of the pictures turned out really great, but by far this was my favorite of the bunch.
At lunch time, several co-workers and I walked down to the Bankcorp Tower to watch Kennedy (Pam's daughter) play with her school's Marimba Band. Although the weather could have been warmer, it was a great excursion to break-up the work day.
While Kaitlyn and Les were at Grandpa's, Parker went to get his first professional hair cut. I couldn't believe how good he was - even the stylist commented on how well-behaved he was for his first visit. Parker was pretty excited for two reasons - he got to watch the movie Cars while getting his hair cut and then afterwards got to pick out a pick out a candy treat.
