Day 1159

It's not the best picture, but Parker has a super wiggly tooth that we expect to fall out any day now.

Day 1158

It was parent teacher conference time for Parker tonight.  The teacher said he is doing well in all of his skills (especially math), but has trouble sitting still.  It's not that he isn't paying attention and learning, but all his wiggling and fiddling about is distracting to the other students.  On the carpet for circle time is an "X" that Parker is in charge of covering with his bottom the whole time - it is conveniently located out of reach from anything.  Les was the first to admit that this sounded an awful lot like him as a child . . .

Day 1157

As part of pet week, Parker was able to bring our Love Bird to class for a few days.  We had to warn the teacher and all the students not to stick their fingers in the cage, because she would bite.  Fortunately, we didn't have any incidents.

Parker and Kaitlyn were playing a little too quietly, so I got up to check on them.  They were playing Lego Star Wars together in there bedroom so nicely.  I just had to snap a photo of them.

Our new bedtime ritual consists of watching several of the Glee Micheal Jackson performances before bedtime.  They can't get enough of it!  Kaitlyn's favorite it Santana and Sebastian singing Smooth Criminal and Parker likes Artie and Mike Chang's version of Scream.

When I am working late on the computer, Lucy likes to keep me company in the den - all snuggled with the blanket that Miss Vicki made for her.

Parker is doing a poetry writing unit at kindergarten and this is the poem he brought home today.  Translated it says:

Ian is tiny.
We play kicking
games
at the mountain
house.

Day 1150

Of course the day that we have to leave is the day we get fresh new snow.  Parker spent every possible minute out playing in it while we packed up the car to head home.

We all headed over to the High Desert Museum (a first for both Les and the kids) to explore the exhibits there.  There was just the right amount of inside and outside activities to keep everyone warm and engaged.  After having lunch at the museum, we once again headed home for naps.

A winter trip to Sunriver is not complete without a trip to Wangoa Snow Park.  Kids and adults alike had fun sledding, however, a bitter wind cut our picnic lunch short and we headed home for naps.

The whole family piled in the care and headed down to Sunriver for a short getaway with the Anderson family.

Parker's math homework from school today.  All the different ways you can get to the number 8.  I remember always writing my 5s backwards, so it's interesting to see Parker's backwards 4s.

It has been decreed that Sunday night is bath night.  Which means after the kids are washed, dried, and tucked into bed, Mom gets to have some quiet time in the tub with bubbles and a good book.

On weekends, Kaitlyn likes to wander around and take pictures of random things about the house.  Here is one of her self portraits from today.

In keeping up with my quality parenting trick of bribery, I paid Parker a dollar to have a bite of pickle.  Despite the smile on his face, it was not an experience he cared to repeat.

At my desk at work, peeking out my office door, hoping someone comes my to distract me from any actual work.

Les peeked in at Kaitlyn before heading to bed and found her and Lucy all snuggled together.

Parker after finishing a Reese's Peanut Butter ice cream sandwich - he seems to suffer from my ability to get more ice cream on my face than in my mouth.

Super Bowl and Grandpa's house.  Instead of actually watching the game, all the cousins piled into a chair and plaid with their electronics.

Les took Parker up to Mt. Hood for his first ski lesson.  They were joined by Uncle John and his cousins Tobey & Sean.  Parker had a blast and his instructor said he did really well.

So I said to Parker, half-jokingly, that I would pay him $5 if he would eat the tomato from his salad.  Then he shocked me and actually ate the darned thing!  A woman of my word, I paid up when we got home after dinner.

Kaitlyn likes to hang out with me in the den while I work on the computer, she does "crafts" at her table.  And every once in a while, she lets me take her picture.

Someone forgot to remind me that having a puppy is almost as much work as having a baby - it's pee and poop all the time.  But boy is she cute!
